Collaboration and Resistance in Auschwitz: The Sonderkommando in Their Own Words

Adam Teller is the Dorot Professor of Judaic Studies and History at Brown University and a Fellow of the American Academy for Jewish Research. He has written widely on the economic, social, and cultural history of the Jews of early modern Poland-Lithuania. He was a member of the core academic team that created the permanent exhibition at the award-winning POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, where he was responsible for the two early modern galleries, and is currently a member of the Academic Advisory Council. He also co-directed the Pinkasim Project, which identified and digitized some 200 early modern Ashkenazi community registers, now freely available through the National Library of Israel. His most recent book, Rescue the Surviving Souls: The Great Jewish Refugee Crisis of the Seventeenth Century (Princeton University Press 2020), was joint winner of the inaugural Rachel Feldhay Brenner Award in Polish-Jewish Studies, a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award in History, and received an Honorable Mention for the Kulczycki Book Prize in Polish Studies. He is currently completing work on a new social history of the Holocaust.
